The Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has elected a new leadership team, with Archbishop Matthew Man'oso Ndagoso of Kaduna emerging as President. The elections took place on February 24, 2026, in Abuja, amidst national and pastoral challenges.

Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins of Lagos was elected Vice President, while Bishop Peter Odetoyinbo of Abeokuta and Bishop Peter Chukwu of Abakaliki were chosen as Secretary and Assistant Secretary, respectively. The new leadership is expected to guide the Church through insecurity, economic hardship, and social tensions, focusing on youth formation, evangelization, and peacebuilding.

The official presentation of the new officers will take place on February 25, 2026. The announcement was signed by the Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Very Rev. Fr. Michael Ayanleke Banjo.
